United Nations Security Council
The Security Council is responsible for peace and security. It was so organized so it could be functioned continuously. Each representative must be present at all times at United Nations Headquarters. When there is a complaint concerning a threat to peace, the Council automatically recommends ways to help the parties to peacefully reach an agreement. In some cases, the Council itself undertakes investigation and mediation. The Korean War from 1950 to 1953 was the most difficult task the United Nations had to face.
In June 1950, South Korean was attacked Korean troops. America wanted the invasion to be brought before the Security Council. After WWII, Korea was spilt in two. Russia dominated the north. The United Nations had already starting dealing with the conflicts with Korea. The North was supported by communist Russia and the South was supported by America.
The invasion of the South by the North was on June 25th 1950. The Security Council of the United Nations were to meet on the same day. The Russian Security Council refused to attend the meeting. The Russians were boycotting the United Nations for recognizing the government in Taiwan. At the meeting, America claimed that world peace was broken after North Korea had attacked South Korea. America insisted that North Korea move to the 38th Parallel. Nine out of the eleven countries in the Security Council agreed. Russia was absent. North Koreans ignored the Security Council’s resolution of June 25th. On June 27th 1950, America commanded United Nations to use force to get the North Koreans out.
On September 15th 1950, United Nations troops were sent to Inchon. This was a success and the United Nations split the North Korean army in half and kicked them out of South Korea. MacArthur made way into North Korea, ignoring the warnings from Communist China. The result was that the Chinese attack on United Nations troops from November 1950 and January 1951, the Chinese pushed back the United Nations force.
America continued to suport South Korea. South Korea has regained its independence. However, Russia had ended its boycott of the Security Council and had rejoined it during the Korean War. Because of this, America put forward a solution called ‘Uniting For Peace’. It stated that if the Security Council vetoed any initiative that was considered important for maintaining peace, the General Assembly should take over to keep going the impetus for peace. Russia argued about the legality of this and it was a source of much argument for many years.

Implications
I believed the United Nations played a huge role in this. Without them, I don't think anything would have been accomplished. Because they sent troops to Inchon, the North Koreans were finally kicked out of South Korea and South Korea regained its independence. This made Russia end its boycott and this caused for the issuing of "Uniting For Peace." Though Russia disagreed and argued for a long period of time, this help make some progress of the Korean War and helped both sides reach an agreement of a stalemate. The Korean War also gave an idea that the United Nations were in control of America. America constantly gave them orders and ideas and didn't take no for an answer. America was the one who demanded them to send troops to Inchon.
