Resolution
It was now obvious that it was no longer possible to reunify South and North Korea by military means. In July of 1951, peace talks began between the UN and the Communists. The UN hoped for a quick resolution, however that does not go as planned. The talk for peace took over 2 years and during that the war still went on.
After the election of President Eisenhower, the peace agreement was successful. Eisenhower considered using the atomic bomb to bring the war to an end. This threat was what brought the 2 year long discussion to an end. An armistice was signed on July 27, 1953. Both sides have agreed to end the war. The two countries were never united but there was peace upon the two once again.

Implications
I did not think that the peace talk would have taken 2 years to reach a conclusion. If it was for President Eisenhower's threat of using the atomic bomb, who knows when the UN & Communists agree on something. The could have went on for years. More and more soldiers would be killed or wounded. The war would also take effect on the civilians in the area. They wouldn't be able to return to their homes, get enough food and live their normal lives. It would be like the World Wars all over again.
